It was mainly alternative bands, but it also features lots of 80s bands like the Cure, New Order or Depeche Mode. Hence, I was swayed into alternative bands like The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Ocean Blue, 10,000 Maniacs, Billy Bragg etc...

I also remembered watching live concerts by Genesis (I Can't Dance Tour), Pink Floyd (The Division Bell Tour), Motley Crue (Dr. Feelgood Tour) and many-many more.

It'll always be interesting to see what the other 80s fan listen to in the 90s.saputrajhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07114304200167781119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475169380058929329.post-36929795738041154922008-07-02T07:12:00.000-05:002008-07-02T07:12:00.000-05:00Yeah, the '90s mostly passed me by as well and I'm...Yeah, the '90s mostly passed me by as well and I'm slowly (re-)discovering it.

The reasons it passed me by in terms of music were personal – when you have a small child, music doesn't seem to matter that much - and the way the music industry was going. In South Africa, vinyl was phased out completely by the early '90s, and I refused to join the CD bandwagon until I finally relented in 1998.

I can't say that the '90s were a golden age, but I find myself discovering stuff I had not known, or stuff I had forgotten.

It was a good decade for film and TV shows though. Seinfeld and Homicide: Life On The Streets were trailblazers in their respective genres.CTVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06775874319624381020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475169380058929329.post-57464049647391339812008-07-02T06:10:00.000-05:002008-07-02T06:10:00.000-05:00"This radical turn of events was after discovering..."This radical turn of events was after discovering - very much to my surprise - that the 1990's didn't completely suck."

I wonder if you'll make me a believer. ;-)Miss Parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17132274121877319388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475169380058929329.post-63202399078274773122008-07-02T04:30:00.000-05:002008-07-02T04:30:00.000-05:00Hooray for the 90s!An unfairly much-maligned decad...Hooray for the 90s!

An unfairly much-maligned decade, but I enjoyed it at the time and looking back now at the music, films and other popular culture of the time I'd say it's still rather good.

Bring it on!Laura (EuropeCrazy)https://www.blogger.com/profile/00049762365144495234noreply@blogger.com
