Simon F - Gun (1986)

In which we imagine a world where the compact disc was introduced in 1980, and now-obscure artists and albums could be preserved for posterity...

First solo album by Simon Fellowes, formerly of the short-lived New Wave outfit Intaferon. The single "I Want You Back" was a cover of a Hoodoo Gurus song. "Baby Pain" is a rerecording of an earlier Intaferon single.

Hi sorry to be pedantic, but as an aussie I feel I must add proper credit where it is due. :)

The Hoodoo Gurus' Dave Faulkner actually wrote I Want You Back in 1984. So Simon F must have covered them.

There was a British version of GUN (called GUN CONTROL) that substituted "Hold The Bunker" and "Breathless" for "I Want You Back" and "Baby Pain".

Hi all
Good to hear some 2008 enthusiasm for Simon F - I remember seeing him support King (Paul King - MTV w**ker - thats another story) at Leeds University UK in 85 or thereabouts - great gig.
I have mp3 copies of both Breathless and Hold The Bunker from the UK release - if anybody wants them I'd be happy to email to somebody who will host them or upload to a fileshare site (sorry don't want to open an account myself). Also have mp3 copies of some Intaferon stuff.
Let me know - grahambrown2004 AT hotmail DOT com.
Cheers all
Graham

Thanks for this! Does anyone have a picture of the back cover?

I played this album (UK version) to death when I was a teenager after seeing Simon F on the King tour. But the vinyl on the record bubbled making it unplayable - and I've been searching for a copy ever since. You can't buy it anywhere. This has made my day. Cheers.

Now if I could just find the Intaferon song "Elvis", I would be all set.

I have a copy of Elvis too by Intaferon if anybody would like an MP3 copy. It isn't very good though. Probably the worst thing they did.

My email address is above in this list of posts somewhere.

Thank you for sharing Gun. I have this on vinyl as well. BTW Some one asked about New York Girl. I actually have the CD of Simon F- Never Never Land which contains New York Girl. I would be willing to share it if anyone wants it.

Thanks so much! I only had a mediocre cassette copy of the LP and was irritated I could never find a legit higher quality copy to obtain...even pay full price for!

Thank you so much. I have hunted for this since my cassette tape got eaten by the machine in 1999. I have looked all over since then to no avail. I listened to this tape since it was released. Words can not express how happy I am now.

That would be PHONES : )

"When I cry like a baby
and moan like a lady
lay here touchin my reciever
sippin vodka from the freezer"

And yeah, that's from memory - this album really shaped my summer the year it came out!

Elvis is on the Intaferon ep "Get Out Of London" It would take me a while to dig out my copy and set up my usb turntable to make a mp3 copy.

the American version of gun had a different mix to the uk edition. they are both worth owning and why these haven't been reissued yet on cd is beyond me
