I've been a bit bored with this blog recently. Mainly this has to do with pressures of work and other things, such as my impending 40th birthday and some personal soul-searching.
I considered quitting the blog altogether but instead I think I am going to change the format slightly, not that I think anyone would care too much one way or the other.
I'm doing away with "Random 80's Wednesday" and instead I am going to try and post a different single every day. At the weekends I will post an album or two, honor any requests, and whine about whatever I feel like.
I have also decided to sell much of my music collection. If you are interested, you can find these items on eBay, my store name is Displaced Music.

I for one will miss your posts and have enjoyed your posts over the last year ( not just the music )so thanx for those.I daily pass by your blog and will do so still.
All the best Mikey
P.S Fifty, 40 is the new 30.
When it was my 40th my partner arranged for me to sing with a glam rock band at my own party ( I cant sing though !!!) but great fun.
Enjoy your birthday when it arrives and being 40 isnt bad at all.
Hi Fifty,
Long-time browser here. Well, I for one, care about yoru blog! I enjoy your blog and like to read your observances of life. I am 43 and have a 2 year old daughter. I get a sense of what you are experiencing. Don't dread your birthday or your place in life. We have many great years ahead. Although our children remind us of our own mortality, it is nonetheless heartwarming to have them. Keep up the good fight and do not give up your music collection. I thought about doing the same about two years ago when I was briefly unemployed. But I realized it is as much a part of me as my daughter is too. I am glad to have it now and if people think I am too old to be listening to rock & roll, well..f@#k 'em!
Keep your chin up as there are many great days and years ahead! You are too good of a guy to lose around here!

Hi Fifty,
I'm a long-time browser too. Your blog, and Mikeyten's, are two of the best without question. I look forward to your blog and music every week, and it serves as a positive reminder of wonderful years gone by. And that foundation of great music helps one to look positively to the future. Thanks for all you do!
Well, happy 40th birthday. I, myself, is 40 as well.
Like most of you, I have to give up on my music collections due to different priorities in my life, mainly because of my daughter.
Although I've pretty much stopped buying CDs, I still keep my collections intact. It's impossible for me to part way with them as they've been part of my life since I was 15.
The only place where I can still enjoy my music is in my car. Your blog does bring a lot of memories of what we all love: 80's Music. Thanks Fifty.
Cheers!
