Birmingham, England singer/songwriter Mark Rogers, under the name Hollywood Beyond, gave it his best shot on If, an energetic, soulful techno-rock record produced by Bernard Edwards, Mike Thorne, Stephen Hague and others. Rogers' voice isn't altogether distinctive, but he croons and belts ably enough to be heard. The music likewise bends toward facelessness, but If's slickness, verve and variety keep it from being boring. Overambitious and premature, perhaps, but not at all bad. (Trouser Press)

I've been patiently waiting for "If" to get a re-release so it was a surprise to see it here chief! I loved the album back in the eighties - I can still feel the rough card sleeve - so I'm wary that the harsh musical truth may throttle my nostalgic memories... Great blog btw. Cheers John.
This is timeless and sweet piece of 80's!
Ssve me&No more tears,woah,good energy.
LOL ... this is amazing ... Thanks !
It's a shame Mark Rogers fell into obscurity while Terence Trent D'arby (no disrespect to him, of course) is a household name. I had never heard the whole album and I thought it was a classic 80's Pop-Soul-Rock hybrid.
Pleae Re-Up! Thanks in advance...
