I've hit a technical snag in that my new mixer/preamp suddenly decided it only liked one channel. I may be retro but I'm not planning on working in mono anytime soon. So it will be a few days before hopefully I can get a replacement or a repair and be on my way again.
In the meantime, I've put together a short compilation of some of the odd singles and B-Sides I've been working on, most of which are quite rare and probably unknown to you lot. In the tradition of weird foreign compilations I have titled this Super Rare 80's!!! (Volume 1). I hope you enjoy these.
Super Rare 80's!!!
- Heyday - Come and Go (1986)
- Ice Cold In Alice - Throw Your Love Away (1989)
- Seeing Red - Ice (1985)
- Colour Code - Love Immunity (1984)
- Fire Next Time - Tears Are Nothing New (1988)
- Hitlist - High Treason (1986)
- Lemon Hearts - Honey From The Spoon (1987)
- This Other Eden - Heaven (1989)
- Love and Money - She Carved Her Name (1988)
- Indoor Games - All of Your Lies (1983)

COOL! And volume 1 of many, I hope!! :) The only one I've ever heard is Love and Money - She Carved Her Name (1988)
So thank you for all of these new gems!!!!
Heyday was a lovely band which worked the south London circuit hard in the mid-1980s. Come And Go was a one-single EMI trial (7- and 12-inch). The only other vinyl trace they left was a white label 12" cover of Mr Big Stuff in 1987.
Cheers for the Fire Next Time track. I always wondered what they sounded like after reading about them in the pages of the Record Mirror back in the 80s.
For some reason they stuck in the memory bank because of their association with the Socialist Workers Party (as mentioned in the Record Mirror article). What can I say? I'm an unashamed lefty type and that sort of mixing pop with obscure politics appeals to my better side.
Shame the track isn't that good. ;-)
As it happens I was the songwriter and guitarist in Heyday and I am touched that you included this track - and by Adamsez kind words. In case you're interested the B-side 'This Change of Yours' was covered by soul diva Angel Bofill in the States.
Lead singer, Louise Porter, had a follow up single released on Virgin and then went on to discover 'Mystique'.
I would love an mp3 of the song - only have a vinyl copy somewhere. happy to make a donation!
Cheers
